Accomplishments

A. An Administration Dedicated to Progress

5. Evaluation of Administrative Units

During the 2001 academic year, NTU devised the "National Taiwan University Administrative Quality Evaluation Standards and Evaluation Committee Establishment Rules" to enhance the quality of administration at NTU and provide eff ective support to the overall operation and development of campus affairs. These rules established an evaluation committee to carry out evaluations of administrative units across the NTU campus and stipulated regulations for these evaluations. Under these rules, an evaluated unit first conducts a self-evaluation and administers customer satisfaction surveys to the people to whom it provides services. The evaluation committee then performs an onsite inspection and informs the evaluated unit of its evaluation results. These results are to be used by the evaluated unit as a reference for the implementation of improvements, and follow-up checks of its performance are to be conducted every three months.

6. Sufficiency of Administrative Personnel

An additional 55 administrative personnel have been hired in order to raise teaching standards and competitiveness in academic research and support and implement strategies and measures under the "Aim for Top University Project." In addition, Level One units implementing the ATU Project are required to provide for the balanced hiring of personnel within the plans they formulate.
